When you enter class 12

Many of you have been asking me for a post on JEE 20xx, i.e., those who have just entered class 12. Here is the much-awaited post.

See this post for Revision in class 12.

1. If you are a 'below average' student with many backlogs-

Well, you might be feeling left behind and might be getting poor ranks in test(obviously, because you don't know the material well). But don't worry, you can still make it. All you need is a little faith in yourself and hard work. Firstly, you know that you have backlogs. And you HAVE to clear them up in order to well in the exam. So make a list of all the topics you feel you don't have a tight grip on(you can even label them based on how much you know) and take out time to solve their problems. Use Sundays, holidays and free time to clear backlogs. Solve only basic questions(like HCV, the first exercise of coaching class sheet, etc.) first.

Never sacrifice your 12th for covering 11th.  Focus well on what is being taught now. and do not repeat the mistakes you did in class 11. Try covering topics like NLM, Ionic Equilibrium, Trigonometry, Straight Line, etc. first, because these are needed in 12th too. Focus on problem-solving. Make sure you manage to clear all/most of your backlogs in 2-3 months. Plan accordingly(as in I have to complete Rotation revision in 2 weeks, Ionic equilibrium in 1 week, etc), and revise all three subjects more or less parallelly.

2. If you are a good student but not very confident of class 11-

Well, you must revise the whole class 11 syllabus again to get a top rank confidence in it. Solve your coaching material again, especially the part which is tough/you couldn't solve it in class 11. You can also go for other coaching material(not advisable), or go for books like HCV, A Das Gupta(I mentioned them in the last post), etc. You must make sure that you revise the entire 11th syllabus(without compromising 12th) in 2-3 months. Solve a lot of problems, give a lot of tests, ask a lot of doubts, and keep on improving your speed.

3. You are really good, and are aiming for a top 100 or so rank-

You guys know it all. You have a very good understanding of everything and are already clear with everything pretty well. There might be a few gap holes. Seal them(like, you might not have studied a less important/few topics. Cover them up well. Then move to the real stuff. Try to improve your skills to get to the top in your tests, prepare for Olympiads and all. Solve Chemistry and Physics Olympiads stage 2 papers (and stage 1 too). Go for other coaching tests. Solve books like Irodov, Krotov, A Das Gupta, SL Loney, Solomons, etc. Whatever happens, do not rest.

Basically, the rules are the same work hard and don't give up. Leave your queries as comments.

P.S.- I have made this blog in order to reach those not on Facebook/Quora. Please share the blog link with your friends/ JEE preparation groups on Whatsapp and all.

All the best.

  4. Sir can you make a post on how to minimise silly mistakes in exam such as
In my case in an exam I could merely score 90+/150 due to mistakes like (not reading questions, calculation errors , panicking) but when I come home and solve it again
I got 140+ ... how to minimise it..

  7. Hello sir,

I've been reading your articles since long time(on quora and here.). And eventually you became my idol. Sir, I'm currently in 9th standard, enrolled at FIITJEE. It would be great for me and others if you publish an article on students presently in 9th and are JEE 2022 aspirants. And as its the very beginning what is it that I can do so as to be the next Kalpit Veerwal ?

Thank you and best wishes for your future. And keep up the good work on your blog and on quora, as its very helpful for us, the JEE Aspirants!!

    Regareds,
    Samarth Saxena.

  11. Hello bhaiya! I have just appeared my class 10th examination and am preparing for a good rank in JEE. But the problem is that I live in a state ( Assam) where we don’t have any reputed national level coaching centres so I am thinking of taking up a distance course from a renowned coaching centre (as I can’t go to Kota) can u suggest any good coaching centre whose DLP is up to the mark? And also can u suggest some tips on NTSE stage 2 which is on Sunday? Also currently I am preparing for RMO with only one book i.e. the challenge and thrill of pre college mathematics, is it sufficient? If not what other books should I use? Thank you bhaiya for helping to clear my queries.

  12. Am currently in class 12th. Not a "below average student"(as per i mark myself). But i started lacking in class 11th syllabus due to some genuine reason (had an issue in schooling and coaching etc.) But some how i passed. But as per JEE concern that is not enough. Will it be possible to do everything now in 12th itself? (Vacation gonna start now, and we get 34-35days vacation) but am too bad at making timetable,i make a harsh one,too tough to follow. But will it be possible to cover all those topics in these vacation? (Almost 35topics are left in numbers on total)
One more thing i want to state:-
I didn't found a good coaching here at my place, so i switched to video lectures, will it be helpful (I don't get distracted will working with in on my system)
And i also purchased Allen dlp.
    Thanks
