KVPY


You may visit http://kvpy.iisc.ernet.in/main/index.htm for more information about pattern and all.
For class 12 students there is no need for extra preparations as most of the syllabus would have been covered by you. Just solve a few past question papers for practice.

For class 11 students, you have to prepare a bit extra. Your class11 concepts must be clear. For mathematics, class 11 maths will do. For chemistry, class 11 is enough. For physics, you should also cover geometrical optics, and Coulomb's law from HC Verma. For biology, class 11 12 ncert is required for good score but still a good grip over 9th 10th will ensure selection.

For interview, nothing extra is required, just practice your speaking skills and see some past interview questions. Be confident on interview day.

I could not find any specific books for KVPY, but this study material(by Resonance is quite comprehensive). I got some awesome reviews from people who used it, so I thought I should tell you guys to about them. They have theory, practice questions, and past papers with solutions. You can order from here(I checked them to be in the latest edition, and at best rates, no need to waste time searching the net :p)-

      Hey Virinchi! I am Aaron, a friend of Kalpit (I hope he'll tell you the rest about me...) I do suggest that you take least unwanted load in classes 11 and 12. However there have been exceptions such as Irin Ghosh (a common friend of the two of us) who took Bio and yet acheived AIR 45 in JEE Adv 2017. If you're very keen about it, go ahead. Else think again...

    Could you please write a bit more about KVPY SX? I know you've already said "there is no need for extra preparations as most of the syllabus would have been covered by you. Just solve a few past question papers for practice." However, I think this is oriented to the people who are focussing on JEE MAIN and not for the truly science oriented people(no offense). Irin Ghosh's interview did help( though I didn't make it past the aptitude test), could you get some tips from people who've gotten rank 1/2/3/4/5 in KVPY SX? And write an article similar to this focussing on that, please?
